“Our challenge is to move beyond a static, hydrologic definition towards a
dynamic understanding of the wholeness of watersheds and
how they form the foundation of all human activities.”
Brock Dolman, Basins of Relations
WHO WE ARE
The Blucher Creek Watershed Council (BCWC) was born in the early 1990's out of a group of concerned citizens and neighbors of Blucher Creek. Folks were interested in protecting the quality of life of the human inhabitants of the valley, as well as all the unique plants and animals with whom we share our land.
We are a handful of volunteers committed to protecting our watershed. If you are able, we also invite you to join us in person and meet your neighbors, have fun and learn about our unique microcosm of Sonoma County. Join our well monitoring program. Come to our educational meetings. Sign up for our email list to stay informed. Check our website for updates. And consider giving your financial support—join the organization that is working on your behalf.
The council was formed to actively address the following goals:
- Protect, maintain, restore, and enhance the watershed.
- Educate watershed residents about wildlife and endangered species.
- Research and develop knowledge to increase understanding of the watershed and how it works, including the water table, aquifer, well production, and well water monitoring.
- Monitor for compliance with environmental quality standards.
- Network with other watershed groups.
